Cookie policy

One cookie, set only after you sign in, holding a random string and nothing else. No analytics and no advertising cookies.

Last updated 10 September 2026.

The short version

One cookie, set only after you sign in. Four small settings kept in your browser so the site looks and behaves the way you left it. No advertising cookie, no third-party tracker, and nothing that follows you to another website. That is why you are not asked to dismiss a banner before you can read anything.

The cookie we set

om_session

  • What it does: keeps you signed in, so you are not asked for your password on every page.
  • When it is set: the moment you sign in or create an account. Never before.
  • What is in it: a random string. It holds no name, no email and nothing readable.
  • How long it lasts: thirty days, or until you sign out, whichever comes first.
  • How it is protected: HttpOnly, so no script on the page can read it, and SameSite so it is not sent from other sites.

Sign out and it is deleted immediately. Read the site without an account and it is never set at all.

Settings kept in your browser

These are not cookies. They are stored by the page itself, they are never sent to our server, and they are never sent anywhere else. They exist so the site remembers how you like it. You can clear all of them at any time from your browser settings, and the site works normally without them.

outmiami.theme

  • What it holds: the word light or dark.
  • Why: so the page comes back the way you set it rather than flashing white at two in the morning. Until you touch the switch, we follow your device setting and store nothing.
  • How long: until you clear it.

outmiami.accent

  • What it holds: the name of the accent colour you chose in your account settings, such as ocean or lime.
  • Why: so your choice survives closing the tab. It is kept in the browser rather than on your account, which means it applies on this device only.
  • How long: until you clear it.

outmiami.hope.open and outmiami.hope.voice

  • What they hold: the digit 1 or 0. Whether the Ask Hope panel was open, and whether you had switched her voice on.
  • Why: so the chat does not reopen itself, or start talking, on every page you visit.
  • How long: until you close the tab. These are session storage and go on their own.

That is the complete list. Nothing else is written to your browser: no fingerprint, no identifier, no advertising profile, and no third-party storage of any kind.

What we count on our side

We count how many times each page was opened, and which site sent you, from the request itself. Nothing is set in your browser to do it and no script runs on the page. Your address is never stored: it is turned into a one-way hash with a secret that is thrown away and replaced every day, which is what stops yesterday being matched to today.

There is a setting that would stitch requests from one browser into a session, so we could see the order pages were read in. It is switched off. If it is ever switched on, this page says so before it happens.

We also count presses on links to Feeling Yachty, which is our own company. The count is of the press, not of the person.

Cookies other companies set

Some parts of the site are served by others, and they follow their own rules once they load.

YouTube

Guides that carry a video embed it from YouTube. YouTube sets its own cookies once the video loads, governed by Google’s privacy policy rather than ours. The rest of the site has no video and no such embed.

Google Fonts and OpenStreetMap

The typefaces come from Google Fonts and the map tiles from OpenStreetMap. Neither sets a cookie, though both receive the request for the file, which includes your IP address as any web request does.

Photographs do not fall into this category. They are fetched by our server on your behalf, so Google is never contacted by your browser for an image and sets nothing.

If you run a business here

Claiming a listing does not add anything to your browser. The phone number you give us on the claim form is used to check the listing is yours and for nothing else: it is not added to a marketing list, and it is not shown on your listing unless it was already there.

Turning them off

Every browser can block or clear cookies and site storage from its settings. Blocking ours costs you the ability to stay signed in and the settings above; the site reads perfectly well without any of it. To stop YouTube setting anything, do not play the videos.

Changes and contact

If we ever add a cookie or store anything new in your browser, this page changes before it does, and the date at the top changes with it.

Who this is

This site is operated by Feeling Yachty S.A., incorporated in the Republic of Panama. The one cookie and the four browser settings above are set by us and by nobody else.
