How we rank our guides
How Out.Miami's editors research, check and update every guide, and how to tell us when something changes.
Who writes the guides
Out.Miami guides are researched and written by the Out.Miami editors, led by founder Fernando Yemail. Every guide is built around what people in Miami actually search for, and every entry is checked before it goes live.
How a place makes the list
- It is open. Every place is checked against its Google Business listing and its own website or social pages before it is published.
- It is well reviewed. We weigh Google ratings together with how many reviews sit behind them, so a 4.7 from 2,000 people counts for more than a 5.0 from ten.
- It is covered. Recent coverage from respected local and national publications is one of the signals we check.
- It does something well. Every entry has a clear best-for, from big groups to late nights, so you can pick the right place fast.
Our standards
- Rankings are editorial. Nobody can pay to be included in a guide or to move up a list.
- Paid placements, where we offer them, are clearly labeled as featured and never change a ranking.
- We do not invent first-hand reviews. Entries are editorial summaries of our research, and videos are credited to their creators.
- Out.Miami is run by the same team as Feeling Yachty, a Miami yacht rental company. Yacht suggestions on our guides are ours, and we say so.
How we keep guides fresh
- Every guide shows the month it was last checked.
- Each month we refresh every listed place from Google and flag anything that has closed or changed.
- Opening hours and the open-now status come live from Google rather than from our text, so they stay current.
- When a place closes, it comes off the list, and any old address redirects to the right page.
Spot something wrong?
Every guide entry has a Report a change link. Reports go straight to our editors and we check each one.
