Miami Restaurants You Can Visit by Boat
A dock-and-dine planning guide: waterfront views are not the same thing as available guest slips.
Miami visitor guide ยท Updated November 2026
A restaurant beside Biscayne Bay can have a spectacular water view and still have no legal place for a visiting boat to dock. The good dock-and-dine plan starts with marina access and a reservation, not an attractive photo. This guide explains how to turn a waterfront meal into a realistic boating day.

A private boat is one option when privacy and a flexible route matter. To compare vessels, explore private Miami yacht charters. Confirm costs, crew, passenger limits and weather terms before booking. The marina and cruise route depend on your selected vessel.

1. First confirm permission to arrive
Call the restaurant or its marina directly. Ask whether transient dockage is currently offered, what size vessel and draft they accept, whether an advance berth reservation is mandatory, whether there are dockage fees, and which arrival channel to use. Some restaurants only offer nearby marina access or tender arrangements, while others have no guest docking at all.
Never assume the captain can stop at a private seawall, restaurant deck or public dock. A waterfront address alone is not evidence of boat access.
2. Where to plan the meal
The Miami River, Downtown waterfront, Edgewater, Miami Beach and Coconut Grove all offer distinct restaurant atmospheres. A Miami River lunch can pair with an urban cruise; a Biscayne Bay sunset outing may work better with a land-based reservation near the departure marina. Always compare the actual transit and return journey.

3. A realistic sample itinerary
A relaxed plan is departure, scenic cruise, a marina or docking stop only if approved, a meal with enough time for service, and return before the charter window closes. Build in buffer for no-wake zones, bridges, passenger boarding and marina traffic. The captain controls navigation and may change the route for safety.
If docking proves impractical, a waterfront dinner before or after a private cruise is often simpler and can feel just as special.
4. Book the boat and table separately
A restaurant reservation does not reserve a vessel or guarantee a berth, and a boat charter does not usually include restaurant dockage. For a flexible group experience, explore private Miami yacht charters and confirm that the operator supports the proposed itinerary before booking. Request the full cost including any crew, fuel, marina charges and gratuities.
